A Look Ahead to the 2025–26 Season

As the UConn Huskies prepare for the upcoming 2025–26 basketball season, both the men’s and women’s teams are poised to build upon their storied legacies.

Men’s Basketball

The men’s team, under the leadership of head coach Dan Hurley, is set to face defending national champion Florida in the 2025 Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden on December 9. This matchup offers the Huskies a chance at redemption and a high-profile opportunity to showcase their talent early in the season.

Forward Alex Karaban’s decision to return for another season bolsters a roster that blends experienced players with promising newcomers. The team is expected to feature a strong starting lineup, including Karaban, Solo Ball, Tarris Reed Jr., Silas Demery Jr., and either Jaylin Stewart or freshman Braylon Mullins. With additional depth from transfers and freshmen, UConn aims to contend for its seventh national title.

Women’s Basketball

The women’s team, fresh off securing its 12th national championship, continues to strengthen its roster. The addition of transfer forward Serah Williams from Wisconsin brings a versatile and experienced player to the team. Williams, a former All-Big Ten First Team member, averaged 16.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, and her defensive prowess will be a significant asset.

With the return of key players like Azzi Fudd, Sarah Strong, and Caroline Ducharme, and under the guidance of head coach Geno Auriemma, the Huskies are well-positioned to defend their title and pursue a 13th national championship.

As both teams gear up for the new season, UConn fans have much to anticipate, with strong rosters and high expectations setting the stage for another exciting year of Huskies basketball.
