A Surprising Team Surfaces as a Contender for Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade in Recent NBA Rumors
The Milwaukee Bucks have once again been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. With Damian Lillard sidelined due to a torn Achilles, the Bucks’ hopes of capturing another NBA title have been dashed. And now, with Giannis Antetokounmpo remaining tight-lipped about his future post-game, trade rumors are gaining momentum.
This time, however, it feels different. When asked about his future, Antetokounmpo said, “I’m not gonna do this… I wish I was still playing… I don’t know.” With multiple years left on his contract, he remains healthy and elite, no longer bound to one destination, making him an ideal trade candidate.

Teams across the league are expected to pursue him, but a surprising name has emerged in the conversation: the San Antonio Spurs. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst pointed out, “I want to point out two teams: the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets.” Windhorst highlighted the Spurs’ intriguing draft position, noting they have two picks in the lottery and a 30% chance of landing in the top four.
Imagine Antetokounmpo joining forces with Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama, and possibly De’Aaron Fox. “If both Spurs picks jump up… God help everybody in the Western Conference,” Windhorst said. While Houston also holds valuable assets like Phoenix’s pick, the Spurs have quickly become the dark horse. If the lottery favors them, San Antonio could pose a serious threat to land Giannis.
