A dedicated basketball fan recently shelled out an impressive $20,000 for a prime seat at Madison Square Garden, securing a spot to witness the pivotal Game 6 showdown between the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics in their Eastern Conference semifinals.
“Demand for Game 6 has reached unprecedented levels, making this matchup the hottest ticket in New York,” said Chris Leyden, Director of Category Marketing at SeatGeek, in a statement to TMZ Sports. “The atmosphere inside MSG is expected to be electric,” he added, revealing that the premium ticket was located near mid-court on the lower level.
Top Ticket Prices for Knicks-Celtics Clash Hit $23,000
According to Vivid Seats, the average price for Game 6 tickets stands at around $1,229, with the cheapest options going for about $600 in the upper sections. However, the most exclusive listings reach as high as $23,000 for VIP seats, highlighting the intense demand for this high-stakes matchup.
A representative from Vivid Seats also noted that fans are traveling an average of 229 miles to be part of the action, as the Knicks aim to secure a conference finals berth.
On the Gametime platform, the priciest ticket available is $21,000 for a seat in the Delta Sky Club section, which offers perks like in-seat service and complimentary food and beverages.
Ticket prices have surged as the series progressed, with Game 3 averaging $1,956 per ticket and Game 4 at $1,716. The most affordable seats for Game 3 sold for $626 on StubHub, while Vivid Seats listed Game 4 tickets for as low as $613. TickPick reported an average resale price of $767 for Game 3 and $545 for Game 4, with the cheapest tickets on May 9 starting at $621 on SeatGeek.
Last Thursday, TickPick revealed that its lowest available price was $706, marking the highest recorded cost for a Knicks game on their platform, with the priciest seat listed at a staggering $54,541.
