Alabama forward Derrion Reid has made the move to Oklahoma

Alabama forward Derrion Reid announced on Monday that he is transferring to Oklahoma. Reid, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward, was a highly sought-after recruit in the Class of 2024, earning five-star status and being named a McDonald’s All-American. Despite his standout high school career, Reid’s freshman season at Alabama saw him mostly in a reserve role, although he did start in the opening two games of the season. Over the course of 24 games, Reid averaged 6.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in just over 14 minutes per game.

One of his most notable performances came in the NCAA Tournament, where he showcased his scoring ability by contributing 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting across Alabama’s four tournament games. His solid shooting and presence in limited minutes hinted at his potential as a versatile player capable of contributing on both ends of the court.

Oklahoma, coming off a 20-14 season where they were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, has bolstered its roster through the transfer portal this offseason. In addition to Reid, the Sooners have added Miami guard Nijel Pack, who averaged 13.9 points per game last season, Notre Dame forward Tae Davis, who put up 15.1 points, and Saint Joseph’s guard Xzayvier Brown, who averaged 17.6 points. With these additions, Oklahoma looks to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season, as they aim to improve on their performance from last year.
