Amorim Warns: Man United’s Job Not Done Yet Despite Bilbao Win

Despite Manchester United’s commanding 3-0 away victory against 10-man Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi-final first leg, their manager, Ruben Amorim has urged his players to remain focused, emphasizing that “the job is not done.”

United took a significant stride towards reaching the final, which is scheduled to be held at Athletic Bilbao’s own San Mames stadium on May 21st. Their potential opponents in the final are Bodo/Glimt or, more likely, Tottenham. After weathering an initial onslaught from a determined Athletic side eager to reach the final on their home ground, Manchester United took control of the match.

Casemiro’s 30th-minute opener shifted the momentum, and Athletic Bilbao’s challenge became significantly tougher when Dani Vivian was shown a red card for fouling Rasmus Hojlund. Bruno Fernandes calmly converted the resulting penalty and then added another goal before halftime, securing a comfortable 3-0 lead for the Red Devils heading into the second leg at Old Trafford next Thursday.

Despite the seemingly comfortable advantage, Amorim’s message to his players was clear: “I think they have to think about the second leg.” This suggests the manager is keen to ensure his team avoids complacency and finishes the job in the return fixture to secure their place in the Europa League final.
