“Anything is Possible”: Ancelotti’s Cryptic Words on His Real Madrid Future
Amidst swirling speculation about his future, Carlo Ancelotti maintained that “anything is possible” regarding his tenure as Real Madrid coach. His comments came on Tuesday as his team prepares for a crucial week that could define their season: a LaLiga clash against Getafe on Wednesday, followed by a high-stakes Copa del Rey final against arch-rivals Barcelona on Saturday.
Ancelotti has faced mounting pressure following Real Madrid’s emphatic Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal. However, with just six LaLiga games remaining, his squad sits a mere four points behind league leaders Barcelona, adding significant weight to their upcoming encounters.
Speaking at a pre-Getafe press conference, Ancelotti expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a domestic double, emphasizing the need to find the “balance” that has sometimes eluded them this season. He described the inherent stress of his position as “fuel” and offered Real Madrid fans a positive update on star forward Kylian Mbappé’s fitness, suggesting he “could be available” for the Copa del Rey final.
When directly questioned about whether winning both LaLiga and the Copa del Rey would guarantee his position until his contract expires in 2026, Ancelotti responded with characteristic pragmatism. “In football, anything is possible,” he stated. “Are you surprised by anything that happens? Nothing surprises me… As I’ve always said, I love this job. I loved my first spell [from 2013 to 2015], I love this second spell [since 2021], and I want this to go as far as possible. One day when it ends, I’ll be thankful and take my hat off to this club, that’s all.”
Ancelotti’s carefully chosen words leave his future delicately poised, adding an extra layer of intrigue to Real Madrid’s pursuit of silverware this week. The outcome of their matches against Getafe and Barcelona could not only determine their trophy haul but also potentially shape the future of their esteemed manager.
