Arkansas defensive end Landon Jackson has decided not to participate in the team’s upcoming bowl game.
Jackson shared his decision to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft via social media on Wednesday. Although he didn’t explicitly mention the bowl game, a team representative later confirmed that he won’t be suiting up for it.
With a 6-6 record, Arkansas is set to learn its bowl opponent and destination on Sunday. Jackson is the second player to withdraw from the postseason game, following wide receiver Andrew Armstrong.
Additionally, starting wideout Isaiah Sategna is expected to miss the bowl game, as he reportedly plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal once it opens on Monday.
Originally from Texarkana, Texas, Jackson transferred to Arkansas from LSU after his freshman year in 2021. He earned All-SEC honors last season with 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. This year, he followed up with another productive campaign—9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks—putting him in contention for all-conference recognition once again. In his farewell message, Jackson called his time at Arkansas one of the best choices he’s made, expressing gratitude for both his personal growth and the coaching he received.
NFL evaluators see promise in Jackson’s physical potential. ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranks him as the fourth-best defensive end in the upcoming draft. CBS Sports lists him as the No. 8 edge rusher and the 36th overall prospect, while Pro Football Focus places him at No. 40 overall. PFF notes his frame, power, and agility as strengths, although his history of two ACL injuries raises durability concerns.
Jackson sustained a neck injury in Arkansas’ season finale against Missouri, leaving the field on a cart shortly before halftime and heading to a hospital for evaluation. Head coach Sam Pittman later reported that Jackson had been released and was recovering well.
In his absence, defensive linemen Anton Juncaj and Quincey Rhodes saw increased action in the Missouri game and are likely to see expanded roles in the upcoming bowl matchup.
