Brandon Miller and 3 former Alabama players set to testify in Michael Davis’ capital murder trial.

Brandon Miller and three former Alabama basketball players, including Jaden Bradley, Nick Pringle, and former student manager Cooper Lee, are set to be witnesses in the upcoming capital murder trial of Michael Davis, scheduled for May 5 in Tuscaloosa, according to court records. While none of the individuals have been accused of wrongdoing, they could be subpoenaed to testify during the trial.

Davis is facing charges for the fatal shooting of Jamea Harris on January 15, 2023, near the Alabama campus. He and former Alabama player Darius Miles were arrested in connection with the incident. Prosecutors allege that Miles provided the weapon used in the shooting, which turned the charges into capital offenses since the killing occurred while Harris was in a vehicle.

During a hearing in February 2023, a police investigator testified that Miller, then a freshman, had delivered the handgun to Miles that night, though Miller has denied any knowledge of the weapon’s intended use. Miller’s car was also struck by gunfire in the exchange, but he and Bradley, who were present, were not charged. Miller’s attorney at the time, Jim Standridge, emphasized that Miller never handled the weapon.

Miller, now a Charlotte Hornets forward and the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, has not yet been officially subpoenaed. Neither he nor his agent responded to requests for comment. Bradley, now at Arizona, and Pringle, who transferred to Arkansas, also declined to comment.

In related news, Tuscaloosa County Assistant District Attorney Paula Whitley confirmed that the death penalty would no longer be pursued in Davis’ case, a decision she attributed to various factors considered by her office in capital cases. Defense attorney John Robbins stated that he was not surprised by the list of potential witnesses.

The trial will be held in the Sixth Circuit Court with Judge Daniel Pruet presiding. While witnesses are typically required to appear in person, some may be called remotely depending on the circumstances.
