Breaking News: Michigan State Head Coach Announces Veteran Star’s Arrival, Shaking Up Team Depth

East Lansing, MI – April 12, 2025 — Michigan State Spartans Head Coach Tom Izzo has confirmed the addition of a seasoned star to the roster — a move that is expected to significantly alter the team’s depth and competitive edge heading into next season.

The veteran guard, James Carter, a graduate transfer from Arizona State, officially joined the Spartans this week. Known for his playmaking skills and defensive toughness, Carter brings a wealth of experience to a roster already brimming with young talent.
“James is the kind of player who changes the dynamic of a team the moment he walks into the gym,” Coach Izzo said during a press briefing. “His leadership, maturity, and versatility are exactly what we need right now.”
Carter’s arrival will likely shift the Spartans’ rotation, possibly moving younger players into supporting roles as he takes on a central position in both the backcourt and team leadership. His presence is expected to provide stability and scoring depth as the Spartans prepare for a challenging Big Ten season.
With training camp just around the corner, the Spartans are looking to integrate Carter quickly into their system — a move that could make them serious contenders once again.
