Cowboys Eye Home-Run Role with Dak

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer values position flexibility, and fifth-round pick Jaydon Blue could be the versatile playmaker the team’s running back group has lacked in recent years. Known for his explosive speed, Blue, who ran a 4.38 40-yard dash, brings home-run potential to the Cowboys’ run game.

Blue is more than just a speedster. Speaking with Dallascowboys.com, he emphasized his versatility and readiness to contribute in any way needed. “I’m the guy who can take it to the house at any moment, whether it’s a run, pass, or anything else. I’ll do whatever it takes to help the team,” he said.

In addition to his speed, Blue brings solid receiving skills to the table. Over his three seasons at Texas, he posted 56 receptions for 503 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging nine yards per catch. This ability to contribute both as a runner and receiver is exactly what Schottenheimer wants from his backs.

While Blue’s primary role will likely be in the running game, his receiving ability and potential on special teams give him a significant edge in securing a roster spot. However, with veterans like Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams ahead of him, Blue, standing at 5-9 and 195 pounds, will need to prove he can handle a consistent role in Schottenheimer’s offense.

The journey begins now for Blue, with hopes that his home-run ability will shine through and make a difference for the Cowboys.
