Cowboys Fans Concerned Amari Cooper Might Join Archrival
In an ironic turn of events, many Dallas Cowboys fans who understand the nuances of team building aren’t particularly keen on the idea of reuniting with free agent Amari Cooper. While some may dream of the reunion, this group of savvy fans knows that it may not be the ideal move for the team.
However, what really worries these fans is the possibility of Cooper signing with the Cowboys’ most bitter rival, the Philadelphia Eagles.
As NFL teams prepare for the 2025 season, the Eagles are still looking to strengthen their receiving corps. While their draft haul was solid, they still lack depth at WR3 behind Pro Bowlers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
In contrast, Dallas only has CeeDee Lamb as a reliable option. Amid the speculation about a potential return for Cooper, NFL.com’s Kevin Patra recently suggested Philadelphia could be a strong destination for him.
Patra humorously noted that Eagles GM Howie Roseman is often linked to every available free agent or trade target, citing the team’s Super Bowl aspirations. Of course, the same could be said for Cowboys GM Jerry Jones, but that’s another discussion.

Cooper, 30, is coming off a rough season with the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills, tallying just 44 catches for 547 yards and four touchdowns. Despite a down year, some might still see value in the five-time Pro Bowler, especially given his success against the Eagles in the past. In six games against Philadelphia, Cooper averaged 81.6 yards and scored three touchdowns, including a memorable performance in 2018.
While Cowboys fans might not be thrilled with the idea of Cooper returning, there’s no denying he could still deliver that game-changing play. For that reason, many are hoping he signs elsewhere – preferably not with Philadelphia.
