Cowboys Fans Start Drawing Comparisons Between Schottenheimer and Belichick
Before Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys parted ways, rumors swirled about a potential return of Bill Belichick to “America’s Team.” Amid last season’s struggles, leadership changes seemed imminent, and owner Jerry Jones didn’t shy away from fueling the Belichick talk. However, the Belichick sweepstakes came to an end when he took the head coaching job at the University of North Carolina, leaving Cowboys fans to wonder what might have been.
Dallas ultimately hired Brian Schottenheimer, a coach with far less prestige than the eight-time Super Bowl champion. But in hindsight, the decision is looking smarter. Schottenheimer may not carry the same legacy as Belichick, but he feels like the right fit for the Cowboys, and they’ve avoided the drama that would have come with Belichick’s potential tenure.

Recent footage from an interview with Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, went viral for all the wrong reasons. Hudson interrupted the interview multiple times and later blocked filming for a season of Hard Knocks with the North Carolina football team. The fallout from the interview has sparked unnecessary distractions for both Belichick and the university.
For Cowboys fans, this drama serves as a reminder of the chaos they avoided. While Schottenheimer has a lot to prove and expectations are high, he’s already earned support from the team and fans. As the offseason progresses, Dallas appears to have found their guy, steering clear of the headlines that might have overshadowed their season with Belichick.
