Dillon Mitchell makes his move to St. John’s, becoming the latest transfer addition.

Sources confirm to ESPN that Cincinnati transfer Dillon Mitchell has pledged to St. John’s., boosting the Red Storm’s chances of being a preseason top-five team.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-8 forward, previously spent one season with the Bearcats after transferring from Texas, where he began his college career. A top-five recruit and McDonald’s All-American in 2022, Mitchell averaged 9.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and shot over 61% from the field last season.

He becomes the fifth addition to Rick Pitino’s highly ranked transfer class, joining Ian Jackson (North Carolina), Bryce Hopkins (Providence), Joson Sanon (Arizona State), and Oziyah Sellers (Stanford). Together, these five players, all among ESPN’s top 100 transfers, will form the backbone of the Red Storm’s 2025-26 roster alongside first-team All-Big East selection Zuby Ejiofor.

Mitchell’s versatility and defensive presence will add depth to the frontcourt, providing St. John’s with more flexibility. His explosive athleticism shines both defensively and in transition, allowing the Red Storm to play with a larger or smaller lineup depending on matchups, with Mitchell in a power forward role or even as a small-ball center.
