Duke’s Cooper Flagg has officially announced he is entering the NBA draft.
Duke freshman Cooper Flagg, the Wooden Award winner and projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, officially announced Monday that he is entering the draft.
Flagg shared his decision in a video posted on social media, expressing his gratitude for his time at Duke: “It was an incredible year, probably the best year of my life. Duke has always been a dream for me, but I’m excited to announce I’ll be entering my name into the 2025 NBA draft. Today is just the beginning, but I have the Brotherhood with me for life.”
Flagg, who reclassified in August 2023, quickly became the favorite to be drafted first overall. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists during his lone season at Duke, leading the team to a 35-4 record and a Final Four appearance.

Duke head coach Jon Scheyer praised Flagg’s season, saying, “He won every National Player of the Year award and impacted the game in every category. But what stood out to me was his character and leadership. He helped create an environment of success for his team, both on and off the court.”
Flagg’s standout performances included a 42-point, 6-rebound, 7-assist game against Notre Dame in January, setting the ACC freshman record. He also bounced back from an ankle injury to deliver key performances in the NCAA tournament, including 30 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists in a Sweet 16 win over Arizona. He was the consensus National Player of the Year and only the fourth freshman to win the Wooden Award.
