Fans are upset by the NBA’s latest update before the conference semifinals.
NBA fans were disappointed upon learning which referees would officiate the 2025 playoff semifinals. After a first round filled with controversial calls, fans are still uneasy about certain officials who will work the second round.
Steph Curry criticized the referees after Game 4 against the Houston Rockets, Caitlin Clark openly asked a referee to favor the Indiana Pacers during their series against the Milwaukee Bucks, and Lakers fans were upset when John Goble officiated their Game 5 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. On Saturday, the league revealed the list of officials for the Conference Semifinals, which included Tony Brothers, Marc Davis, and Scott Foster.
These names sparked significant backlash, with fans quick to voice their displeasure. One fan wrote, “Marc Davis should not be allowed to officiate Nuggets games,” while another referred to Brothers and Foster as “Satan’s greatest soldiers.” A fourth fan questioned how Goble and Ben Taylor made the list, reflecting the ongoing frustration with these referees.

Some of these officials have built a reputation over the years, while others have made calls that left many fans upset. As the 2025 NBA Finals approach, the pressure on referees intensifies, and expectations grow.
How these referees perform in the upcoming rounds will be closely watched, but for now, many fans remain skeptical about the officiating selections.
