Former Lady Vols star Michelle Marciniak hired as Arizona women’s basketball general manager

Former Lady Vols basketball star Michelle Marciniak has been appointed the general manager of Arizona women’s basketball.

Marciniak joins the Wildcats under new head coach Becky Burke, who was hired on April 9 to succeed Adia Barnes. The general manager role is a relatively new position in college sports, and Marciniak’s duties will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including program operations, staffing, roster management, global recruiting, and NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) development. She will also serve as an adviser to Burke on various aspects such as program culture, leadership, and national brand strategy.

“I’m thrilled about this opportunity because it brings together all of my passions: the business of basketball, leadership, and creating something meaningful with others,” Marciniak shared in a statement. “Having been shaped by a championship mindset, I’m committed to contributing in a way that honors the strong foundation already established here. My goal is to help elevate Arizona women’s basketball, building a sustainable program with national championship aspirations. I’m excited to work closely with Coach Burke on a thoughtful, strategic approach that enhances the program’s future.”

With Marciniak’s extensive experience in basketball and leadership, her transition into this key role signals an exciting new chapter for Arizona women’s basketball as they aim to strengthen their presence on a national scale.
