Gordon’s clutch 3 lifts Denver over Oklahoma in Game 1 steal
In less than five minutes on Monday night, those claiming “Oklahoma City isn’t ready for this” got all the ammunition they needed.
The Thunder had controlled most of Game 1, maintaining a double-digit lead for large stretches, including a 13-point advantage early in the fourth quarter. When Shai Gilgeous-Alexander knocked down a three-pointer to put OKC up 11 with just 4:31 remaining, it looked like the home team was on its way to another convincing playoff win. With the league’s top-rated defense on their side, the Thunder only needed to lock in for a few more possessions.
But Denver had other plans.
The defending champions flipped the script in the final minutes, going on a stunning 19-6 run to steal Game 1 right out from under the Thunder. Fueled by relentless pressure and poise under fire, the Nuggets chipped away at the lead, silencing the once-raucous Oklahoma City crowd. Then came the dagger.

With the game on the line, Aaron Gordon—already known for stepping up in big moments—delivered once again. His clutch game-winning three-pointer sealed a dramatic 121-119 victory for Denver and stunned the Thunder faithful into silence.
It was a collapse OKC will want to forget but also a wake-up call to the intensity of postseason basketball at this level. For Denver, it was a championship-caliber comeback that sets the tone for the series.
One thing’s clear: if Oklahoma City wants to prove it’s ready, it now has something to respond to.
