Houston offensive lineman Sam Secrest transfers back to Louisville.
After spending the 2024 season with the Houston Cougars, Secrest announced on Monday that he would be rejoining the Cardinals. His decision comes as a boost for Louisville’s offensive line as they look to strengthen their depth heading into the upcoming season.
Secrest originally joined Louisville before transferring to Houston, where he contributed during his time with the Cougars. Now back with the Cardinals, he is expected to bring added experience and depth to an already solid offensive line unit.

The news of his return is seen as a positive development for Louisville as they look to build on their momentum from the previous season. With the Cardinals’ offense continuing to evolve, Secrest’s experience will likely provide a steady presence for the team’s line, helping them execute the offense effectively and protect the quarterback.
Secrest’s return to Louisville further highlights the dynamic nature of college football, with players often making moves between programs in search of new opportunities or to reunite with familiar coaching staff. His decision to come back to UofL signals his desire to contribute to the team’s success and continue his collegiate career at a program where he started.
