How the Wisconsin Badgers’ Offense Can Achieve Better Balance in 2025 with New Offensive Coordinator Jeff Grimes

The Wisconsin Badgers are determined to achieve better balance on offense in 2025.

Last season, their passing game struggled to establish consistency, with the team often relying heavily on the running game. There were even games where running the ball wasn’t effective, highlighting the lack of versatility in their offensive strategy. A lot of that can be attributed to quarterback play, but the arrival of new offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes and his pro-style scheme is expected to make a significant impact in providing the offense with more balance.

Head coach Luke Fickell has already started to see the shift take shape during spring practices. The Badgers have some strong skill players on the outside, and Fickell is focused on creating more opportunities for them to make plays.

“We’ve got some skill on the outside, and we’ve got to make sure we can give them some opportunities,” Fickell said after spring practice. “Not just relying upon the run, not just thinking that that’s going to be the only way to create big plays, but still finding a way to make sure we have the balance.”

Grimes’ scheme will emphasize mixing up the play calling, incorporating both the passing and running games in a more efficient and effective manner. With the right quarterback leadership and a more diverse offensive approach, the Badgers aim to find the right balance to maximize their offensive potential in 2025 and beyond. This renewed offensive strategy will help Wisconsin become more unpredictable and dynamic in its approach.
