Indiana Hoosier Softball team suspended from Big Ten.

The Indiana Hoosiers softball team has been suspended from the Big Ten Conference due to allegations of misconduct involving Head Coach Shonda Stanton. The suspension follows accusations of extreme verbal and emotional abuse towards players and staff, which were uncovered during an internal investigation by Indiana University. Stanton, who took over as head coach in 2017 after a successful 18-season tenure at Marshall University, led the Hoosiers to notable achievements, including back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances and two consecutive 40-win seasons in 2023 and 2024.

However, the allegations against Stanton, which involve behavior that violates both the university’s Athletics Code of Conduct and the Big Ten Conference’s ethical standards, prompted the suspension. As a result, the Hoosiers will be excluded from all conference activities, including regular-season games, the Big Ten Tournament, and eligibility for conference honors.

The suspension has serious implications for the student-athletes, with potential risks to scholarships and future career opportunities.
