Key Contributor from Longhorns’ Final Four Team Enters Transfer Portal

Following their first Final Four appearance in over 20 years, the Texas women’s basketball team appears poised for another strong season next year. The Longhorns are bringing back much of the roster that made their historic run to Tampa, including point guard Rori Harmon. However, a key player from last season is set to move on. Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda, who spent three years at Texas, is entering the transfer portal. The South Dakota native started 15 games during her junior season.

The 6-foot-2 guard was known for her strong defensive presence, utilizing her above-average length. Mwenentanda set career highs across nearly every statistical category this past year, including scoring a personal-best 19 points against Illinois in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

She joins Abbie Boutilier and Jordana Codio, who have also entered the transfer portal this offseason.

While starters Shay Holle and Taylor Jones have graduated, head coach Vic Schaefer is already retooling his roster. The Longhorns have added two transfer signees, Breya Cunningham and Lovisa Asbrink Hose, to strengthen their lineup for the upcoming season.
