Key Transfer Departures and Official Visits Shape Latest Texas A\&M Football Recruiting Developments

As the offseason rolls on, Texas A\&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff are ramping up recruiting efforts with several high-profile recruits set to take official visits to College Station in the coming weeks.

Following the Maroon & White Spring Game last weekend, the Aggies gained recruiting momentum by locking in official visits from top-tier prospects, helping build what’s shaping up to be one of the best 2026 recruiting classes in the nation.

Among the key visitors is four-star safety Jett Washington from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound standout is ranked among the top defensive players in his class. Praised for his athleticism, size, and versatility, Washington is expected to be an immediate impact player in the secondary. He also has a strong athletic background as a former basketball prospect and is notably the nephew of NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

Joining him on the visit list is five-star athlete Myson Johnson-Cook from DeSoto High School in Texas. Regarded as the No. 1 athlete in the 2026 class and the No. 5 overall player in Texas, the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder brings a rare combination of speed, strength, and playmaking ability. Projected as a tight end at the college level, Johnson-Cook’s potential addition would significantly enhance Texas A\&M’s offensive firepower.

Despite the recruiting gains, the Aggies have seen a few departures. Freshman tight end Eric Karner and wide receiver Ernest Campbell entered the transfer portal, and wideout Micah Hudson has returned to Texas Tech. As the 2025 season nears, Elko and his team remain focused on closing strong on the recruiting trail.
