Knicks Storm Back to Force OT, Take Down Celtics in Game 1″

The New York Knicks delivered an unforgettable performance in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, defeating the Boston Celtics 108–105 in overtime. Despite trailing by 20 points in the third quarter, the Knicks mounted a fierce comeback on the road at TD Garden, snatching the win and taking a 1–0 series lead.

Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby led the charge, each scoring 29 points. Brunson, in particular, was clutch in the fourth quarter, hitting key three-pointers to keep the Knicks alive. OG Anunoby matched his intensity on both ends of the court, offering crucial defense and offensive firepower. Mikal Bridges came up huge in overtime with a game-saving steal from Jaylen Brown in the final seconds, sealing the victory for New York.

Karl-Anthony Towns struggled with foul trouble but still managed to contribute 14 points and grab 13 rebounds. Josh Hart also played a significant role, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds, offering energy and hustle throughout the contest.

The Celtics started strong, building a 61–45 halftime lead and appearing in control. However, their offense faltered in the final quarter. Boston missed 45 three-point attempts — the most ever in an NBA playoff game — and scored only 16 points in the fourth quarter. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both scored 23 points, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the surging Knicks. The absence of Kristaps Porzingis due to illness was clearly felt.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team’s mental toughness, calling the performance a true example of playoff resilience. Meanwhile, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla admitted his team failed to execute defensively when it mattered most.

Game 2 is set for Wednesday at TD Garden, where the Celtics will look to even the series.
