Lakers Injury Update: Lonzo Ball’s Return Date Set, Brook Lopez Clears to Play Again

The Los Angeles Lakers received some encouraging news on Wednesday, as Brook Lopez was cleared to return after missing eight games due to an ankle injury. Lopez, who last played on December 18 in a loss to the Golden State Warriors, will be available for the Lakers’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Lopez’s return is timely, as the Lakers are currently enduring a seven-game losing streak. The team has faced inconsistency, exacerbated by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s fluctuating availability. Once considered a strong contender, the Lakers have struggled since December, and Lopez’s return comes as a much-needed boost.

However, not all injury news is positive. Lonzo Ball remains out for the Thunder game, despite being cleared for practice after missing six games with a sprained left shoulder. Ball experienced some soreness after a workout on Tuesday, but the Lakers are hopeful he will return on Friday for their game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Head coach Luke Walton has been tight-lipped about his starting lineup for the Thunder game, showing his preference for keeping lineup changes under wraps until the last possible moment. With a five-game homestand ahead, the Lakers could be back at full strength as soon as Friday, providing a glimmer of hope amidst their ongoing losing streak.
