Manchester City eye Diogo Costa as Ederson’s possible successor – insider reveals
Manchester City are reportedly considering their goalkeeping options for the upcoming summer transfer window, with FC Porto’s Diogo Costa emerging as a potential target. This interest comes amid renewed speculation surrounding the future of their current first-choice goalkeeper, Ederson, according to a source speaking to ESPN.
Ederson was the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League last summer, and it is anticipated that the Brazilian international may receive further offers from the Middle East at the end of the current season. The source indicates that Ederson is open to exploring a possible move to the SPL in the summer.
In light of this uncertainty, Manchester City is proactively identifying potential replacements for the 31-year-old, who has been the undisputed number one at the Etihad Stadium since he arrived from Benfica in 2017. Portugal’s first-choice goalkeeper, Diogo Costa, is understood to be one of the prominent names on City’s shortlist.
