Mavericks Lock in on Cooper Flagg, Firm on Keeping No. 1 Pick

Sources indicate that Dallas governor Patrick Dumont views the potential to draft a generational talent like Cooper Flagg as a significant opportunity, confirming the team’s intention to retain their No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. This strongly suggests that the 18-year-old forward is poised to join the Mavericks.

The Texan organization now hopes that Flagg will indeed be the top selection in the draft. The 6-foot-9 forward has been considered a leading prospect since his decision to reclassify and enroll in college at 17.

“I don’t know who we’re going to take, but should we take him, I think his résumé is pretty strong,” stated CEO Rick Welts, expressing his hope that the Mavericks will draft the Duke freshman. “Every time he’s put in a situation that everyone wondered if he could succeed, he’s succeeded and then some.
