Mikal Bridges delivers his Knicks moment with a clutch Game 6 performance

Mikal Bridges had his defining moment as a Knick in Game 6, delivering his best performance since being acquired by the team in exchange for multiple first-round picks.

After several underwhelming performances this season, Bridges provided a standout night to remember. He scored 25 points, his highest of the series, shooting 11-for-16 from the field, while adding four rebounds and three assists in the Knicks’ 116-113 victory over the Pistons at Little Caesars Arena, clinching the series.

With 35.1 seconds remaining, Bridges tied the game at 113-113 with a crucial put-back tip-in. “Just trying to find a way to win, just being there,” Bridges said of the game-tying basket. “My coaches have been on me all year, all playoffs, to rebound, so just trying to do my best.”

Throughout the first five games of the series, Bridges averaged just 14.4 points on 42.6 percent shooting, often disappearing for stretches. However, in Game 6, he played aggressively and made the Pistons pay when they doubled Jalen Brunson. This came especially in light of a rough performance by Karl-Anthony Towns, who only managed 10 points.

“Us playing fast, knowing the weapons we have, just trying to be aggressive,” Bridges said. “They tried taking \[Brunson] away, we gotta punish them when they try to deny him and let other guys play.”
