Oklahoma makes a strong move, securing St. Joe’s transfer Xzayvier Brown.

Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners made a major move in the transfer portal by landing St. Joe’s guard Xzayvier Brown, widely considered one of the top point guards available. Brown is joining Oklahoma as part of a package deal with his stepfather, Justin Scott, who will join the Sooners’ coaching staff as an assistant.

As a sophomore at St. Joe’s, Brown was a standout, averaging 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He shot 42% from the field and 35% from three, playing in all 32 games and starting 30 of them. His 36.2 minutes per game were among the highest in the country, and he scored 20+ points in 14 games, including a season-high 27 against Fordham. Brown also posted impressive performances like 26 points and five threes against George Mason and 20 points in a win over Texas Tech.

One of Brown’s most impressive games came against Villanova, where he scored 28 points and handed out 13 assists in a win. He was a highly efficient guard, ranking 28th in the nation in free throw percentage (89.7%) and maintaining a solid assist rate. His ability to take care of the ball was also notable, averaging just 2.7 turnovers per game despite heavy minutes.

With two years of eligibility remaining, Brown’s addition is a huge boost for Oklahoma. He will join Miami transfer Nijel Pack in the backcourt, forming one of the most exciting guard duos in college basketball. The Sooners’ roster, bolstered by the addition of Brown, has taken a big step forward heading into next season.
