Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Secures Commitment From Coveted Transfer and Top-100 Prospect
Ole Miss head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has added a major piece to her roster with the commitment of Tianna Thompson, a transfer from Georgia Tech. Thompson announced her decision on social media Tuesday, giving the Rebels a talented and highly touted addition ahead of the 2025-26 season.
A former top-100 national prospect, Thompson recently completed her true freshman season with the Yellow Jackets. Her decision to transfer comes after showing flashes of elite potential during the 2024-25 campaign, and she will now look to take the next step in her collegiate career with the Rebels.
Thompson’s commitment is a significant recruiting win for Ole Miss, as she brings a strong mix of scoring ability, athleticism, and court vision. As a highly ranked recruit coming out of high school, she was widely regarded as one of the top guards in her class, and her addition gives the Rebels another dynamic playmaker in the backcourt.

During her freshman year at Georgia Tech, Thompson showed promise in limited action, adapting to the pace of the college game while contributing to the Yellow Jackets’ rotation. Her versatility and upside make her an ideal fit for McPhee-McCuin’s system, which emphasizes speed, aggression, and defensive intensity.
With Thompson joining the fold, Ole Miss continues to bolster its roster through the transfer portal, aiming to remain competitive in the SEC and build on recent success. The addition of a player with Thompson’s pedigree highlights the Rebels’ ongoing commitment to attracting top-tier talent and developing a team capable of contending at the national level.
