Olympiacos Stun Madrid on the Road to Clinch Final Four Spot in EuroLeague Thriller
Olympiacos have secured their spot in the Euroleague Final Four with a hard-fought 86-84 victory over Real Madrid in Madrid, clinching the quarterfinal series 3-1. Evan Fournier led the charge for the Greek side with an impressive 23 points.
Real Madrid started strong, establishing a 21-16 lead after the first quarter and maintaining a 47-42 advantage at halftime. However, Olympiacos turned the tide in the third quarter, scoring 26 points to take a 68-65 lead into the final period.
In a tense final minute, Alberto Abalde and Dzanan Musa brought Real Madrid within three points. Facundo Campazzo then sank two free throws, narrowing the gap to 85-84 with just 14 seconds remaining. Fournier responded with a crucial free throw, making it an 86-84 game with 12 seconds on the clock. A last-second shot from Alberto Abalde to win it for Real Madrid fell short, sealing Olympiacos’ dramatic victory.
Kostas Papanikolaou contributed 12 points for Olympiacos, while Mario Hezonja led Real Madrid with 21 points, and Dzanan Musa added 12 in the losing effort.
