Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ passing game poised for a breakout in 2025.

Patrick Mahomes is leading a passing camp in Texas with the Kansas City Chiefs’ running backs and top wide receivers—Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Hollywood Brown—reuniting for the first time since last year’s training camp. With Rice and Brown sidelined for most of last season due to injuries, only rookie Worthy saw consistent action. Now, with all three healthy, Mahomes is optimistic the Chiefs can revive their big-play passing game in 2025.

“Everything looks great right now getting the guys back and healthy,” Mahomes said. “The offense has a chance to be really, really good.” He’s particularly encouraged by Rice, who led the league with 24 catches in the first three games last year before a knee injury ended his season. Mahomes said Rice looks sharp and is running routes and catching passes confidently, expecting him to return to form with the benefit of a full offseason.

Brown, a free-agent addition, showed promise in camp but missed most of the season after a sternoclavicular injury in the preseason opener. He returned for the final two regular-season games and the playoffs but had limited impact. Mahomes believes Brown can expand his role now with a healthy offseason.

Worthy, who led the Chiefs with 59 catches for 638 yards, made key plays in Super Bowl LIX, despite the team trailing. Mahomes said, “We’ve got the guys. It’s about me trusting them, making throws downfield, and letting them make plays.” The Chiefs hope this healthy trio sparks a 2025 offensive resurgence.
