PSG target Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera as Marquinhos eyes Saudi switch

According to Fichajes, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is closely monitoring Valencia’s promising young center-back, Cristhian Mosquera, as they prepare for a potential departure of their experienced Brazilian defender, Marquinhos.

Despite being under contract until 2028, the 30-year-old Marquinhos is reportedly considering a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League. PSG’s interest in the €30 million-rated (according to Transfermarkt) Spanish defender signals a continuation of their defensive restructuring, following the recent acquisitions of Lucas Beraldo and Willian Pacho.

Mosquera, who has impressed for Valencia this season with 7 clean sheets and strong defensive statistics (averaging 3.10 clearances and 0.63 shots blocked per 90 minutes, ranking highly amongst his peers), is attracting significant attention. Both AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have previously been linked with the talented youngster.

PSG’s pursuit of Mosquera is a strategic move, aiming to capitalize on Marquinhos’ current market value while simultaneously freeing up salary space for reinvestment in the squad. A potential summer bidding war is anticipated as these three European giants compete for Valencia’s defensive asset, with PSG hoping their project and financial strength will convince Mosquera to become the successor to Marquinhos in their defensive lineup.
