Ravens eye 5-time Pro Bowler to power Orr’s defense.

The Baltimore Ravens have made notable strides in pass coverage in recent seasons and aim to keep that momentum going into 2025 with a reworked secondary. First-round rookie Malaki Starks will join the safety unit, with superstar Kyle Hamilton easing his transition. The cornerback group will also look different, as 2024 starter Brandon Stephens is now with the Jets, while veteran Chidobe Awuzie joins Baltimore as a possible starter.

However, the Ravens might not be done reshaping their secondary. Sterling Xie of Pro Football Network suggests they could pursue veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who started 16 games for the Vikings last season. Xie notes Gilmore would provide a dependable alternative to unproven options like Jalyn Armour-Davis or rookie T.J. Tampa. Gilmore’s familiarity with man-heavy schemes makes him a strong fit for a Ravens defense that ran man coverage at the ninth-highest rate in 2024. Despite his age—he turns 35 this year—Gilmore remains effective, allowing just 7.1 yards per target last season.

A five-time Pro Bowler and 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Gilmore could offer a short-term, affordable solution for Baltimore. Though a return to Minnesota isn’t off the table, he’s expected to evaluate his options through the summer. Other corners like Asante Samuel Jr., Rasul Douglas, Jack Jones, and Shaq Griffin remain unsigned, but Gilmore’s experience and potential price tag could make him an ideal veteran addition to bolster Zach Orr’s defense.
