Ravens Rookie Drawing Comparisons to Franchise Legend

Landing Mike Green at No. 59 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft may turn out to be a major steal for the Baltimore Ravens. Despite leading all FBS players with 17 sacks at Marshall last season and showcasing elite traits as an edge rusher—speed, power, and explosiveness—Green slipped to the second round due to off-field concerns. However, the Ravens appear confident in his potential and character.

CBS Sports’ Mike Renner believes Green could be Baltimore’s first true franchise edge rusher since Terrell Suggs. Speaking on “Glenn Clark Radio,” Renner praised Green’s relentless motor and rare athleticism, noting his ability to bend, defend the run, and make plays on every down. Despite a slightly smaller frame, Renner says Green’s complete skill set makes him a high-impact player from day one.

Suggs, the 10th overall pick in 2003, recorded 132.5 sacks over 16 seasons with the Ravens, helping lead them to a Super Bowl title in 2012. Green, if he approaches anything close to that production, would be a massive success for Baltimore.

Renner went even further, ranking Green as the second-best edge rusher in the 2025 class behind only Abdul Carter, who was drafted third overall by the Giants. Green’s dominance against top-tier programs like Ohio State and Virginia Tech, along with an impressive Senior Bowl showing, only bolster his case.

While questions remain, Green’s talent and upside could make him a cornerstone in Baltimore’s defense for years to come. If he stays on track, the Ravens may have landed a future star.
