The Milwaukee Bucks have filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought by Pacers fans.

The Milwaukee Bucks have filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by two women from Indiana, following an incident during last season’s playoffs against the Pacers. The motion seeks dismissal on the grounds of “failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.” Named as defendants in the lawsuit are the Bucks organization, former player Patrick Beverley, and former assistant coach Josh Oppenheimer.

The lawsuit stems from an incident during the Bucks’ season-ending game against the Pacers in Indianapolis last May. According to the criminal complaint, the women suffered physical pain when Beverley threw a ball into the stands, striking them. TNT cameras captured the moment when Beverley threw the ball twice at fans. The lawsuit, filed in Marion County Superior Court, claims that Beverley’s throw was so forceful it broke one of the women’s necklaces. Additionally, it accuses Oppenheimer of verbally provoking and inciting Pacers fans from behind the Bucks bench.

Beverley addressed the incident on his podcast, apologizing for his actions and claiming that the fans called him offensive names. However, the attorney representing the women stated that Beverley’s comments damaged his clients’ reputation, esteem, and goodwill.

The legal documents filed in Marion County Superior Court, along with a prior interview with the attorney representing the plaintiffs, form the basis of the information provided in this report.
