This former La Salle All-State player has decided to join St. John’s. Who is he?

Kelvin Odih, a top-80 national prospect from Providence, has committed to St. John’s University, where he’ll face his hometown team at least twice each season in the Big East. The four-star, physical wing adds length and defensive strength to St. John’s roster for the 2025-26 season. Initially committed to West Virginia in October, Odih reopened his recruitment after Coach Darian DeVries moved to Indiana. He previously had offers from Marquette, Florida State, Missouri, LSU, and others.

Red Storm coach Rick Pitino welcomed Odih to the team, praising his talent and adding him to a strong veteran nucleus. Odih, an All-State player at La Salle Academy, also attended prep schools South Kent and Southern California Academy. He gained attention playing for Rhode Island Elite and helped the team reach the 2022-23 State Open Tournament.

Odih had interest from Utah, Oklahoma, Texas, and other programs after revisiting his recruitment in March. He had planned official visits to Utah and Maryland before committing to St. John’s. Pitino, focusing on transfers this offseason, has bolstered the team with key additions like former Providence star Bryce Hopkins and players from schools like North Carolina, Arizona State, and Stanford.

Odih’s decision adds depth to the Red Storm’s roster, positioning them as strong contenders in the Big East, alongside Connecticut, as the season approaches.
