Travis Perry Draws Interest from Arkansas, Tennessee, and Louisville After Kentucky Transfer

Last season, the Kentucky Wildcats had a roster mainly filled with transfer players, though they still had a few local talents who chose to stay committed and join as freshmen. One of the notable players was Travis Perry.

A 6-foot-2 combo guard from Eddyville, KY, Perry was ranked as the 7th-best point guard in the nation coming out of high school and was considered the top player from Kentucky.

However, Perry made a last-minute decision to enter the transfer portal. With the Wildcats adding several strong guards who are likely to take the majority of the backcourt minutes, Perry found himself with limited opportunities.

There has been significant interest in Perry, with John Calipari’s Arkansas Razorbacks among the schools expressing interest. Rival teams, including the Tennessee Volunteers and Louisville Cardinals, are also reportedly showing attention, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. Perry had some bright moments during his time at Kentucky in Mark Pope’s first season as head coach, averaging 2.7 points per game and shooting 31.3% from the field, with a slightly better 32.1% from beyond the arc.

The Lyon County native has the potential to elevate his game, but it appears that won’t be at Kentucky. Perry’s best performance came in a late-February road game against Alabama, where he scored a season-high 12 points and hit three three-pointers, despite a loss.

With the transfer portal now closed, Kentucky is looking to finalize its roster, particularly with several new faces joining the program for the upcoming season.
