Trump Appoints Andrew Giuliani to Lead 2026 World Cup Taskforce

Andrew Giuliani, the son of Rudy Giuliani, has been appointed by Donald Trump to lead the former president’s task force for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Trump announced the appointment on his social media platform, Truth Social, highlighting Andrew Giuliani’s previous role as Special Assistant to the President and Associate Director of the Office of Public Liaison during his first term. In this position, Giuliani was responsible for coordinating visits of sports teams to the White House. Trump also noted Giuliani’s involvement in facilitating the re-entry of international athletes into the United States during the 2020 “Reopening of America.”

In addition to Giuliani’s appointment, Trump announced that Carlos Cordeiro will serve as Senior Advisor to the task force. Cordeiro currently holds a senior advisory role with FIFA and previously served as the President of the United States Soccer Federation, where he played a key role in securing the winning bid for the 2026 World Cup.
