Vince Young, former Texas Longhorns football star, donates $3 million to athletic department.
Vince Young, the former University of Texas quarterback and national champion, has made a generous $3 million donation to the university’s athletic department. This contribution, one of the largest from a former athlete, will enhance student-athlete programs and facilities, further cementing Young’s legacy both on and off the field.
Reflecting on his time at Texas, Young expressed deep gratitude for the opportunities he received, stating, “Texas provided me with the platform to grow as an athlete, a student, and a person.” His donation will help improve the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletic Center, with a focus on academic support, nutrition programs, and advanced training facilities. Young emphasized the importance of developing well-rounded individuals, not just athletes, by offering resources for academic, athletic, and personal success.

Additionally, a portion of the donation will go to the university’s scholarship fund to help ease the financial burdens of student-athletes. Young noted the sacrifices student-athletes make and expressed his desire to help them overcome financial obstacles.
This donation not only benefits the university financially but also serves as an inspiring gesture, encouraging future Longhorns to give back to the programs that helped shape their success.
