Warriors center is the perfect low-cost trade target for the Lakers—ironically!
The Los Angeles Lakers’ lack of quality and depth at center was exposed in their disappointing 4-1 first-round series loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. As they search for big men to address this issue for next season, the Golden State Warriors might offer the perfect low-cost solution in Trayce Jackson-Davis. Although Jackson-Davis has had a limited role with the Warriors, only seeing extended minutes in Game 4 and Game 5 during blowout losses, his potential remains strong. After a solid rookie season where he averaged 17.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per 36 minutes, Jackson-Davis has found himself out of the rotation since February, largely due to the emergence of Quinten Post and the steady play of Kevon Looney.

Despite his limited playing time, Jackson-Davis shouldn’t be dismissed. His skillset, particularly as a pick-and-roll player, could be better utilized elsewhere, like with the Lakers, where he could thrive more traditionally. The Lakers could capitalize on his rebounding and shot-blocking abilities, especially with playmakers like Luka Dončić setting him up for easy finishes. His struggles at the rim, a point of frustration for Golden State, could be less of an issue with a team that has more shooting threats in the frontcourt. With a cheap contract, Jackson-Davis offers great potential at minimal cost, making him a viable target for the Lakers as they look to strengthen their center position next season.
